  • Steeples - C.Lynn

Gracing horizons over all the world
    the markers
    places of worship

    Steeples

places meant to honor the One who gave us all
    Creator of all
yet do people heed the call

    Do they offer their thanks
do they take Him to mind
or give thoughts only of the briefest kind

Do the steeples any longer draw the people in
or merely blend with the horizon
    disappear in the haze
    as people are more concerned
with other things to fill their days

  • It has turned cold again. :-(
but I hear they've had snow in Minnesota and Wisconsin, so I'm not going to complain.

    Today's poem - day 16, April 16, 2014

    Youth
    O glorious youth
    how quickly you have flown
remembering when I was a youth
and could not wait, to be grown

    O the carefree days
    now long gone -
    down life's weary path
    we've traveled on

    Grasping where we can
    at the joys of yore
    as we pass
    from here to fore

    With every passing year
the bones get a little creakier
    the joints
    a little squeakier

But happier days we do remember
    and still enjoy to reminisce
    to recreate where we can
    that carefree, joyful, bliss :-D

  • Today is the day of the Feast of unleavened bread (known as Passover)
    - day of the last supper of Yshwe (known as Jesus)
    This day Yshwe is betrayed.

  • Wind Chimes - C.Lynn

    singing in the breeze
    playing joyful song
    tinkling a melody
    their gentle lull
    creating illusion
to beat the feel of heat
    leading the mind down paths
    to thoughts of coolness
    gentle stirring breezes
    sung out by the chimes

  • Watching the eclipse...

If the clouds will cooperate. They have been greatly getting in the way,
but I am praying that they will blow away, and stay away.

  • I got this idea when I saw JusticeMom's title today. :-)

    Hijinks jesterand Cabin fever

    Cabin fever
when you get tired of staying in
    it is the time
when a lot of hijinks begin

    bored to silliness
    the silly begins
    a time to pull pranks
for which you'll get no thanks

    no where to go
    nothing to do
    can cause people
    to go a little lulu

    whether alone by themselves
    or with others as targets
    they can find the most
    uncanny things to do
sometimes you'd think they'd been raised in
    (or escaped from)
    a zoo.

  • Looking at a huge, beautiful moonrise.  In two nights there is to be a lunar eclipse...
due to take place at 3:00 am on April 15... the ides...

  • I so often wish I could capture the myriad of birdsong that I hear from my porch.
    Music to my ears.
And at night I have frog song.
It's what I imagine it to be like in a rain forest.
I'm seeing squirrels this year, which is nice because last spring I didn't seem to have any.
I don't know what happened to them.  I remember hearing foxes that summer. Do foxes catch and eat squirrels?
Anyway, it has been a beautiful spring day here today.  Couldn't ask for better.

So, I have not been able to come up with a poem for hijinks, but I can share a story... my one and only story. :-)

Having only one sister, and rather stern parents,
there weren't alot of hijinks at my house...
even dad would get in trouble when he tried.
Mom was not fond of nonsense and neither am I.
The only trick I remember was the one pulled by my sister,
when one night she crawled under my bed and waited for me to get in it...
    I was about 7 or 8...
then she started to shake the bed,
and when I looked over the side she popped her head out scaring me half to death.
    I don't think I've ever recovered.
I've been afraid of things hiding under the bed ever since.

  • ~ Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day ~

    Hijinks
are a thing of boys and men
    I thinks  ;-)

  • Gosh it is so weird how threads of my life seem to weave together...
I've recently started watching, The Duggars
I recently was given prompts to write poems for...
One was encouragement... a word that has come up over and over again as I am watching the Duggar episodes.
    The other was Hijinks...
Now tonight, doing a little research into the Duggar family, I come across this sentence in a NewsWeek
    article about them:

"Though the Duggars do describe themselves as conservative Christians, in reality, they follow a
belief system that goes far beyond "Cheaper by the Dozen" high jinks."

    How odd is that?
