  • warm heart & political notes

So, I decided on this the coldest day of the year so far, that I would go out and get my mail...

(I confess, I wanted to experience the 'feel' of the bitter cold.... :-) )

and I found something to warm my heart...

    a Valentine's Day card...

Thanks Crystal... you brought warmth to my day.  :-)

    Political notes:
My ears pricked up when listening to the news tonight and I noticed
    they referred to 'Mr. Obama'...
Obviously he doesn't merit the respect of the title President.

and God forgive me when I see these reports of these poor Yazidi girls,
and other girls that have been taken by these evil men... when I see these evil men...
God forgive me I just wish we could go and wipe them all out.
Time for another crusade of all decent people of the world.
I can't shed enough tears for the evil that is in this world.

  • I think that for Lent, I will continue with my reading of the Psalms...
perhaps this time I will finish them.

    Psalm 42

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear
    before God?
3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me,
    Where is thy God?
4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with
the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and
praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope
thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from
the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts:
all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

  • My world - upside down

Last night, instead of temperatures dropping, they climbed into the mid-50's by 4:00 am...
and around 9:00 am when temperatures usually begin to rise, they dropped into the 30's...
can anyone say polar shift? .... or some kind of shift anyway...

  • So... freezing temp.'s all day... freezing rain expected later in the day...

it always frets me to think of my children on the roads in these conditions,
no matter how old they may be.

Lord keep the road traveler's safe today.

Today's one of those odd-ball holidays, isn't it?  So no mail post today? No banks open?

  • Ooooohh, no warmth today. Brrr

I just stepped outside and there is certainly no reprieve from the cold, like there was yesterday.

  • I wish I could capture the image of the two silly squirrels sitting in the tip top of the trees,
    blowing in the breeze.
I wish I had gained more aptitude with the video camera to feel worth the effort
    of getting it out.
I figure by time I would have the camera figured out... find a blank tape and all that...
the squirrels would be long gone. :-(

  • Petty annoyances...

Petty annoyances, but annoyances just the same
I am sure that my parents can remember the early days of television, when
TV would fuzz out in the middle of a program.  I remember.  Then things
improved and most of my life that problem disappeared... but now in my
late life, before mine is even over, it seems we have come full circle...
TV is now as bad as ever it was when it was still a new thing.  It irritates
me no end to have the channels cutting in and out.  It irritated then...
    it especially irritates now.

  • A post in pictures...sort of :-D

  • There is a stiff, cold wind, blowing tonight....

    stiff cold wind

  • Taking tea

I am taking tea on my porch.
After a freezing cold night... 24 degrees... I awoke to hear that it is 61 degrees outside.
Now I don't know about anyone else, but that was enough to make me want to leap from
my bed and head outdoors... and while I may not be able to leap as I might've done in
younger days, I most certainly was drawn from the bed, grabbed a book and headed for
the porch, stopping only to make some tea and toast to take with me... because after
this unusually warm day, we will be plunging back into the 20's overnight again, and
only a high of 40 is predicted for tomorrow.  Better enjoy while I can, I say.  :-)
