  • It's amazing to me how just that one degree of difference can make it all go away...

the ice was all gone even before I went to bed at 3:00 am... so at least roads were clear today.

On the not so good side, I've just read that power restoration time for my daughter isn't 'till Saturday. :-0 !!!
Hope they're wrong. I mean it's still only in the 30's out there. :-/ I wonder how cold a house can get without heat?

  • I've been catching up here, and I do hope your daughter's power is back on! You asked how cold it could get in a house without power .... well, on January 5th our power went out .. it was out until January 8th, and the coldest temperature outside was -15 with a windchill of -45 because of the high winds. We bundled up in one room with a space heater hooked up to a generator. At one point, when we went out into the hallway to look at the thermostat, it read 38*! Have to say, it got very cold indoors, we could even see our breath! It was almost colder in the house than in our refrigerator, so we didn't worry about the food at all. Didn't do much eating, though ... lots of playing cards and reading, and just trying to stay warm! I've heard there are lots of people without power in that storm. I do hope your daughter get's hers back on soon!

    • Thanks 'threads'... :-) I'm sorry I've forgotten your real name... that is, if I ever knew it. lol
The good news... my daughters power was back on when she and her husband arrived home from work. Whew, very glad for them.

  • HI Lynn, sorry about your daughter's problem.

Nice to see in comments that it is back on.

    Happy Valentine.
