Month: October 2014

  • Ever since women have been 'freed', there is no one willing to do the work of being a home-maker.
Are men also thus freed from being the home-provider?
Where would we be if everyone abdicated their responsibilities in favor of their 'freedom'?
Oh wait... that is where we are now....
it is no wonder children are growing up with no firm foundation,
and why we have adults with no clear sense of direction.

  • I love this.
    It's fascinating... and amusing.
    There's something here for everybody.
    Socrates meets Yshwe

    also this;
killing a cell phone... i.e., turning it off
"digital murder is a virtue not a vice"  :-D

  • Ok, so I've just been to WordPress to create a blog, and I can't figure out how to work anything...
how to find anybody... how to customize...
extremely confusing.... and I am very frustrated...

I don't want to lose contact with people I talked with for the better part of 9 years now.

  • 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:
for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.

  • Hawk-king

I am not so pleased today with my view of the woods.
I was attracted by a flurry of activity of a variety birds in one place,
and that is how I saw him...
the hawk with his dinner of freshly caught squirrel.
I was excited to see the giant bird,
until I got my binoculars and saw what he was doing. :-(
He's one of those that look like they are wearing those fluffy, feathery, trousers on their legs.
He has a nice pair of trousers... blond 'trousers'.
What's interesting is how the little birds returned again and again to harass the hawk,
seeming to want it to stop what it was doing.
The hawk remaining oblivious to their attempts to intimidate him.
    They gave up after awhile.
I feel sorry to have lost the squirrel. I saw so few of them this summer.
In fact it was only for the first time, just a day or two ago, I was enjoying watching 3 of them
running around on the trees... so happy, so full of joy and having a last lark amidst winter preparation...
and now one of them is gone. :-(
I wonder what he does with his quarry when he's had his fill. I wonder if he eats the whole thing.
It's pretty amazing how he can hold onto his dinner and hold himself on the tree branch too.

    He was one of these:
    hawk

A mockingbird has just returned to do some more fussing at the hawk.  I guess they want him gone.
I'm guessing they feel he is a threat.

He appears to have eaten the whole of his dinner... no leftovers. I find that rather amazing too.
I wonder how long he is able to go until his next meal.

He really is pretty amazing to look at... majestic, regal.

Now he has flown.  I did not get to see him go.

  • There is to be another full eclipse of the moon...  6:30 am - 7:30 am
I stayed up to watch the last one which took place around 1:30 am.

The second — and final — total lunar eclipse of 2014 will occur early
Wednesday morning, just before sunrise in the Eastern Time Zone and
in the middle of the night on the West Coast.

  • odd thoughts:

I can't believe after all these years,

and all the changes to everything else,
they still haven't come up with a better way to package plastic wrap.    straight faced smiley

  • ~ are the stars out tonight, I don't know if it's cloudy or bright ~

There is a glorious full moon tonight...

staring at a glorious full moon rising/risen outside my window
perfectly clear, cloudless, blue sky behind.

note: the actual, official, full moon isn't 'til Wednesday, and it is the second blood moon...
the full moon on the Feast of the Tabernacles.

I always have an unnerving feeling as the sun goes down/moon comes up...
a feeling of, 'the day is ending', and I never having done enough in it.      erm smiley

  • It is the neglect of timely repair that makes rebuilding necessary.
    - Richard Whately -

Wow amazing words that apply to just about everything today...
    the economy
    the infrastructure
    the leadership (i.e., government)

  • Is it ok to waste a whole day watching TV?
Downton Abbey marathon was on today...
then Once Upon a Time, and The Paradise, and now Inspector Lewis....
Why, why, why, do they put all the shows on one day? At least the only shows that I care to watch.
