Month: September 2014

  • "Weeds - flowers whose virtues have never been discovered."

    wildflowers1

  • Wow, dark by 8:00 already... how quickly that caught up.

  • “We do not begin to approach a solution of our problems until we acknowledge the fact that they are spiritual.”
    - Eleanor Roosevelt

I am hooked on the Ken Burns special, The Roosevelts, which has been playing on PBS.

"Joseph Lash recalled that Roosevelt used to carry in her purse an inspirational message by Henry Van Dyke,
enjoining one to, “think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends, and every day of Christ.
He noted that she had circled the phrase about Christ."

  • September is already nearing its end.....
when it seems like just yesterday it arrived.

  • Thoughts and wisdom today.... C.Lynn

Truth I suppose depends on who is doing the writing and what they have to gain from it

Why can't people just treat people, like people?

Surely the lawless have not gained the majority?
If Obama were to break with tradition and run for a 3rd term... surely he would not be elected?

In 1939-1940 there were people that somehow thought there could be peace with Hitler too......
    How wrong they were.
There is no peace to be had with ... what would you call Hitler.... what was his aim and goal?
Wasn't it quite similar to ISIS now?

I remember a time when black americans were respectable people.
Segregation, to the extreme that it was, seems so ridiculous now.

Do losers write about the battles they have lost?
How is the history of WWII told in Japan? in Germany? in Russia? in Italy? in the mid-east?

  • exercise... my whole day is an exercise... (in futility)

September - I have always loved the month of September

"We face today, a world filled with suspicion and hatred."
    - Eleanor Roosevelt
"Anyone who thinks, must think of the next war, as suicide." - Eleanor Roosevelt

She was such a wise woman.

  • After a very active summer, the birds seem to have moved on already...
all is quiet. I have seen only two cardinals and over the summer I was seeing nearly a dozen at a time,
    plus multitudes of other species.
I wonder if this, and the lack of any lizards this summer, is the prelude
of the very cold winter which is predicted to come this year...
and according to the Farmer's almanac for the next 4 or 5 years.
As I type, I have one lizard sitting over my shoulder, in my tree...
the first I have seen all summer, and possibly the last I will see this year.
I am so pleased to see him sitting there.
I am hoping he stays to eat all my spiders which have been prolific over the summer.

The wasps and hornets seem to have disappeared also...
all a prelude to the change of seasons and the coming of winter.

One lone bird sings a beautiful song in the not too distant, distance. :-)

  • I'm in need of something to do...
and in need of the energy to do it...  in need

I need to go make a salad... I want a salad...
I need the energy to do it. :-/

  • I love life set to music...

you know, how when you watch regular life on TV shows, it's always made more interesting because of
    the background music...

  • non-stop rain and incredible humidity...

    rainy day
