  • Thanks for the link. I think I can relax more today, knowing that non-essentials are shut down. Whew! Big sigh of relief! :-)

    • Hi Miriam, I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic? Do you mean big sigh of relief because essentials are not shut down? Because yes, the more I listened, the more I realized this is not the HUGE deal the media drama plays it up to be, and I was surprised to learn it is not the first time it has happened. The media makes it sound like it will be the end of the world as we know it, when obviously it's not, since we have survived this before. I don't know what stuns me more the people who listen to main stream media and get all stirred up, or those who go obliviously on thinking that all will always be well and pay no attention at all. :-/

  • no thanks -I wish they would just all get along

  • It IS a huge deal. To those associated with the gvmt. Military. Reservists. Ntl Parks. Gvmt funding for schools, hospitals, etc. Federal employees and museums. Libraries. Childcare. I could go on. And it wouldn't be surmise, it'd be what I have seen as a military wife and friend of those in Reserves and Border Patrol, whose vacation times were cut immediately, even if flights etc were booked (anniversary trip) as their force and every other Nat Sec job is now under the squeeze. Which means extra long hrs (since we are salaried and no overtime), more time away from family, less resources, and POOR morale.
What happens when there's poor morale, overworked employees, weapons, lost money from vacation plans that can't be refunded, and reduced or lack of access to mental health help (that was cut on many bases, too)?
    Fun game, isn't it.
