It all seems too complicated... the switch to new Xanga...
I'm feeling the call to go to blogspot where so many of my friends have already moved. A chance to begin new and fresh, and a chance to exercise some creative muscle again, with less complications for this technologically challenged gal. My mind gets in a muddle when things have to be changed. I figure if I go to blogspot I may be able to keep my same name. If I go with Xanga 2.0 I feel I must start from scratch... a whole new blog. For me it is easier to start over from scratch than it is to make changes. If I'm going to start from scratch I may as well go to blogspot since I already know that I do not like wordpress. I am so torn.Aghhh...
Oh well, in other thoughts;
a short while ago someone had asked about collections, and I recently remembered that I do have one collection... a collection of the little blue Smurf's
I also have a collection of 4 small vintage apothecary bottles.Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I stepped outside and it is like a sauna here... I stepped right back inside, into the artificial cold(sometimes I do like it
) as soon as I had watered my tomatos. It is looking like we might get rain a little later. That'll be nice, but I'm not counting on it.
Just got my e-electric bill today. I am so pleased, I got through the month of July with my electric bill being under $100.Pleasant weekend everyone.

Of course I wish you well, whether or not you leave here. It sounds as though you've made up your mind about moving; but you may just be back. I don't know why the grass seems so much greener elsewhere; but community doesn't just happen - even for the most gregarious person. I have enjoyed your musings and music. I think that Xanga 2 will be so familiar that any changes will come quite easily - even for one as inept as I am.
It is much preferable to me to learn to cope with rearranged furniture than to sell the house and move to another neighborhood.
@quest4god@revelife - I was reading at this link;
http://edlives.xanga.com/774945677/a-transition-period---what-can-we-do-during-this-t%E2%80%A6/
and that's what put me in this state of mind.
You could try doing both simultaneously to see which place really has the most friends and which is easier to learn. Xanga has been so easy to make friends in and to post that I believe many will return (if the number of deserters is really as high as people try to make it sound).
@quest4god@revelife - Ok, I'm really having trouble with my posting... think it is me, but never know...
Those two posts to you Norm are totally in backwards order.
I think what has happened is that so many jumped the Xanga ship and went over to blogspot, taking the community with them, that blogspot is now a more friendly place with a community of its own forming. That will be hard for people to leave, and I don't know about most people but I don't have the time and energy for keeping up with two blogs. I think everyone will end up choosing one place and I am afraid that since they did jump the Xanga ship too early, that place is now blogspot.
@quest4god@revelife - I don't think it's a high number of deserters, but I do think it is a small 'community' of deserters that have found their way over to blogspot and formed a new community with new members being enticed by the warm friendliness to join that community.
In other words, the Xanga community has changed the blogspot community, and changed it for the better.
@quest4god@revelife - Oh my gosh! My original reply to you keeps getting erased. I am going to have you so confused but I really wanted to share this with you because I loved your analogy of the re-arranged furniture vs. moving to a whole new house. I guess I have always like moving to a new home... fresh, new.
Hehehe - I love your analogy Norm. No, my mind is not made up, that's what's driving me crazy. I won't know until the changes are made whether or not I can cope with them... whether I will stay or whether I will go. So many have already gone and formed a new community elsewhere that it is tempting to just go join them there and begin anew. :-/
The comments I've seen about BlogSpot is that it is not at all easy or attractive....You spoke of rain in your original post. I checked the rainfall in my local area of NC and we already have topped the YEARLY rainfall average just through July. 49+inches.
@quest4god%40revelife - Regarding the rain here in NC, yes it certainly has been a very rainy season. Isn't it wonderful?! I always get anxious during the drought years.
I will miss you Lynn. Blogspot and Facebook do not work for me even though they offer privacy a family member always finds me.
Hope you do well at your new home.

@HUMOR_ME_NOW - Hi Frank. Well I'm not decided yet. I'm torn. I'll have to see what the new 2.0 is like, I think, in order to decide. I'm hoping they will allow a free trial to try it out and see if we like it... to see if I can transition.
@JstNotherDay - You know how I feel, but you have to do what is right for you.
hugs

You could open a blogspot just to see how you like it and to get familiar with it ... that's what I did, and with a few clicks, made it look pretty much like my page here! I've already found a list of friends I'm following now, but I'm not leaving Xanga completely. I will see what 2.0 will bring. I did hear that they are transferring our accounts, at least the ones who have either Premium or Lifetime memberships ... from the chatter I'm hearing around here, when the Premium accounts are due again, that's when we'll have to pay the new higher fee per year ... I'm a Premium member, and have 2 months left on mine, well, 1, by the time they get it switched! It is confusing, isn't it! Anyway, apparently we'll have to pay to blog here then, and I don't think I'll be able pay the amount they're asking right now. Have you seen the video on the Xanga Blog about the switch? Here's the link:
Xanga Blog
I also noticed here, on the sign-in page, there is a list of new posts ... I found some interesting conversations going on about all this change. Whatever you decide, I'll be following! You have a blessed week! - Deborah
For me blogspot has been fine as far as doing a blog, it didn't seem difficult to me at all. I left xanga because of the content on the front page, I wrote xanga and they would never respond. My daughter also had a stalker here on xanga, I forwarded them one of the notes from the stalker and they never responded. What can I say? When I left xanga I expected true friends to follow me there, or hoped they would. I tried to pop my head in here from time to time as well. Sure, xanga is built for community but there isn't a reason why blogspot can't have that community too if everyone would show themselves friendly and follow blogs. For those who want to stay in touch with different friends on different blog sites, 'bloglovin' is great for that. You can plug in all the blogs you want to follow and they send you a digest or you can sign in for blog updates. It's nice.
I will miss you too. I hope you can come back and visit. I haven't noticed that much difference yet.
