  • How visible is your God?

    Do you keep your Bible hidden in a back room, or is it out in the open, visible to be seen because of its use in your home?
    Do people hide their God?
                  because why?
          because what?  because they are afraid of something... offending... ridicule?
    Is God an offense to us... to the people who visit our homes?

    Yeshua said;

    33 But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father who is in Heaven.

    15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

    and Paul said;

    16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek[the gentile].  (Romans)

    Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God (2 Timothy)

    and David;

    Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
    Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. (psalm 25)

    Be not ashamed of God... do not hide Him from view.

    No one lights a lamp to put it under a bushel.

    Let your light so shine before men. - Yeshua

  • Impossible to hide God, but some try to be secret believers. If He is our life we will reveal that fact no matter the consequences, as has been the case in countries where Christianity is illegal. Better that we be persecuted for our faith than to deny Him.

  • @quest4god@revelife - How many people do you know though that keep their Bible in a bedroom, or a nightstand, just so it is not laying out in the open when people visit? and how often do you suppose it gets read when it is put away like that? I think there are many who keep God hidden. I often wonder what people think when they are in my home and there are Bibles everywhere... the shelves, the desk, the table, the floor, the couch, the chair... literally everywhere because I am always reaching for one to read.

  • i'm always getting the "look" from my coworkers because we are not supposed to talk about our faith at work.  i told them i can't separate it from who i am and its as natural as breathing to talk about God, so they could either take me or leave me just the way i am, i will not censor myself.  --karen

  • the priest used to have time to visit every home and when he comes to your house he said,"I should know as soon as I walk in that you're a Christian."

  • @lifeontheWink - Hi Karen, that is amazing for someone living up north, good for you. I am the same, God is part of living and breathing with me, but I am in the south where it is normal, and I am so glad of it. I grew up in the north where everyone hid their God under a bushel. God was not to be talked about.

  • i live in one of the most unchurched states in the US.

  • no secrets here. And hardly anybody visiting our home that doesn't already know where we stand. Maybe that's a problem!

  • thanks for recommending my answer. It always made me think of decorating the house so others would know they're among others.

    I have to tell you a story about when I was young about the "short"priest that we used to have back in the 1960's he went to sit in the most comfortable chair in the house and we said,"Father, don't lean back too far." It was too late and I always laugh when I see two black legged pants up in the air. LOL We 8 kids got a good laugh.
