Hawk-king
I am not so pleased today with my view of the woods.
I was attracted by a flurry of activity of a variety birds in one place,
and that is how I saw him...
the hawk with his dinner of freshly caught squirrel.
I was excited to see the giant bird,
until I got my binoculars and saw what he was doing.
He's one of those that look like they are wearing those fluffy, feathery, trousers on their legs.
He has a nice pair of trousers... blond 'trousers'.
What's interesting is how the little birds returned again and again to harass the hawk,
seeming to want it to stop what it was doing.
The hawk remaining oblivious to their attempts to intimidate him.
They gave up after awhile.
I feel sorry to have lost the squirrel. I saw so few of them this summer.
In fact it was only for the first time, just a day or two ago, I was enjoying watching 3 of them
running around on the trees... so happy, so full of joy and having a last lark amidst winter preparation...
and now one of them is gone.
I wonder what he does with his quarry when he's had his fill. I wonder if he eats the whole thing.
It's pretty amazing how he can hold onto his dinner and hold himself on the tree branch too.A mockingbird has just returned to do some more fussing at the hawk. I guess they want him gone.
I'm guessing they feel he is a threat. He appears to have eaten the whole of his dinner... no leftovers. I find that rather amazing too.
I wonder how long he is able to go until his next meal.He really is pretty amazing to look at... majestic, regal.
Now he has flown. I did not get to see him go.

He is a beautiful bird.......to look at. I guess he looks like a scary monster to smaller birds and squirrels.
Yes, you are right... he must look like a scary monster to the other small birds.
I hadn't thought of that.
Hawks are so majestic! I love watching birds! I've learned a lot from them.

Poor little squirrel, though.
I guess every creature has to eat. And each has to die at some time.
HUGS!!!
Hawks are beautiful. I don't like when they grab chickens and such but I guess they have to live. The peacocks and guineas make loud noises when they see them. Good watch birds for the others.
I am trying to wake people up too. I'm afraid it's a little late. This Ebola thing could shut down the whole world from panic.
I will miss you too. Maybe I could link to this on Word Press if I remember how to get there!
I love to see hawks, but hate it when they snatch one of the songbirds around our place ~
Ah, I guess they had reason to fear. I loved the way all the varieties of birds came together
I know how they feel... to be ineffectual
to harass the hawk... not that it had any effect.
in the exertion of your energies. At least the hawk had his meal and had no interest in them.
Hawks only kill, when they're hungry, and they usually eat all of they prey.....
They are beautiful birds....
Nature is beautiful but its laws are cruel. Predators and preys needs to each other to maintain themselves on earth.
Those huge birs always are impressing .
Good observation ,Lynn
