  • And not till we know, that one grief outweighs ten thousand joys, will we
become what Christianity is striving to make us.

    - Herman Melville

  • ... having trouble adjusting to the thought of a world without Robin Williams.
He had to be my all time favorite actor. How sad that someone who brought so much laughter and joy,
should end his life in a state of depression.

    Summer days
... when the rain is so heavy with wanting to fall that you can just see the moisture hanging in the air.

    Thoughts...
'Sowing seed, reaping a whirlwind' ?
    Where is the fertile soil?

'The cry goes out for compassion, but when one responds compassionately by advising a return to
the moral standards and principles as taught in the Word of God, he is soundly rejected. '

"Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them.
For the ways of the Lord are right. and the righteous will walk in them,
But transgressors will stumble in them." (Hosea 14:9).

  • on the radio this morning....

Not till each loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly,
    Shall God reveal the pattern
    And explain the reason why

The dark threads were as needful
    In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
For the pattern which He planned.

  • It's a sickness...
I can't ever go to bed without one last check of 3 things...
    e-mail, Xanga, and Facebook... :-P

    Good night
and Good Monday morning early birds... save me some worms. :-)

  • So much for my post of yesterday about the waters not rising...

Just came across this news article online:

HWY 133/River Road closed due to high water, flooding
The Deputy Director of Brunswick Emergency Services says with continued rain expected this evening,
he does not expect the road to re-open until Monday.

Hwy133/River Road is the road I live on. See what happens when you never go out?
You never know what's happening right in your own backyard. lol
The road is only closed to the south and east of me, so I am unaffected. I don't often travel that way.
I'm glad I seem to live just far enough in from the coast.

  • and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights ?

I'm starting to think maybe I should be counting.
So far the waters are not rising...

  • Gloomy and doomy
that's how it feels around here
    gloomy because of the weather
doomy because my spirit just feels wasted

music of the steady drumbeat of the rain
the feel of peace and stillness in the world,
    of waiting

  • Sounds like God has the angels moving the furniture around upstairs again. :-D

  • I feel like I should clarify... the photo I posted goes with a poem that came up
in a discussion with adamswoman (thus, 'Eve')  :-)   Here is the poem:

    When I Am Old.

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
    on brandy and summer gloves
    And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
    And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
    and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
    So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
    When suddenly I am old
    and start to wear purple!

    'all else is sinking sands...'

Sometimes I believe all the lies
So I can do the things I should despise
And every day I am swayed
By whatever is on my mind

I hear, it all depends on my faith
    So I'm feeling precarious
The only problem I have with these mysteries
    Is they're so mysterious

And like a consumer I've been thinking
If I could just get a bit more
More than my 15 minutes of faith
    Then I'd be secure

My faith is like shifting sand
    Changed by every wave
My faith is like shifting sand
So I stand on grace, stand on grace

I've begged you for some proof
For my Thomas eyes to see
    Slithering staff, a leprous hand
    And lions resting lazily
And this soaked altar going ablaze

My faith is like shifting sand
    Changed by every wave
My faith is like shifting sand
    So I stand on grace

Waters rose as my doubts reigned
My sand-castle faith, it slipped away
Found myself standing on your grace

Where do I go when there's nobody else to turn to?
Who do I talk to when nobody wants to listen?
Who do I lean on when there's no foundation stable?

Where do I go, where do I go,
When the storms of life are threatening?
Who do I turn to when those winds of sorrow blow?
And is there a refuge in the time of tribulation?

I know here's the rock for my salvation
I know here's the stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and The Mountain stands by me
When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
