  • John Adams, second President of the United States, reminded Virginia legislator John Taylor: “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide” (letter dated April 15, 1814).

    Hmmm... and I always thought democracy was the way to go....
    but I should know better... no human system of governance can govern itself for long... they all become corrupt.
    Only God's system will be everlasting.

    The ancient Greek philosopher Plato famously warned, “tyranny naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme form of liberty” (The Republic, Book VIII).
