  • The older generations of my family had a thing about linens.  They were always buying them.
So they had lots of them.
I have some towels in my bathroom that came from my grandmother.
I happened to look at the label tonight, because I know I will need to be replacing them soon.
They are approaching their last days.
Anyway the label said Bamberger and Co., "One of America's great stores".
Remember when 'America had great stores'?
What did we allow to happen to America and our great stores, our factories, our industries... our ability to
provide people with a good, working, livable wage?  What happened to American pride and top quality products?
Where has the America we knew gone to?

  • I still have a couple of hand towels that my grandmother made crocheted edgings for. I do miss the big beautiful department stores that I visited when young. Wal-Mart just isn't the same! Remember the fantastic displays in the windows at Christmas-time?

  • Hopefully it will come back because good people are waking up. I hope.

We have things from grandpas and great grandpas and so on. I have a set of bowls that my grand children's great-great-great grandparents ate out of. They probably get bored with the thought. :-)

Yes, soon it will be August. Arrrgggghhhh!

  • At 45 I don't quite consider myself of the "older generation"( though some kids my differ; to young ones, even 30 seems old), however I love to buy linens too. I love towels of all sizes, and pillows. I don't buy sheet sets as frequently, but I'm about due I think.
