Journey of a soul
on a human journey

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.   Proverbs 3:5-6

Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me (John 14:1)

"trying to put life together in a fashion which will not cause pain to other people and not betray my ideals."

Bring on the debates

Does making jabs at the other candidate really impress anyone?  Am I the only sane person left in the world?  It does not impress me.  Could we not have just one candidate who could demonstrate integrity for a change?  Is this not even something the general public can appreciate anymore?

They're saying that the Democratic convention was successful?  Does that not frighten and disturb anyone other than myself?

Oh Lord, bring on the debates.

I am looking forward to the debates and am planning on not debating here on Xanga with different political choices than me.

I don't see much difference between them, so I don't foresee any new revelations brought on by any debates. I am very disappointed in them BOTH. I do not like either one.

@mtngirlsouth - Hehe - Yeah, it was more of a groan than a statement. I don't know if I'll be able to stomach the debates or not, but I know I can't stomach the ads.

The Democrats will do anything to distract from President Obama's record. They've got people all wrapped up in Romney's taxes, religion, gender, social status, income, and a company he worked for a long time ago.
Obama's machine has accused Romney of murderer, of being a bully, a cheat and a capitalist roder.

Free yourself from the whole matter. At the end of the day, whether you vote or not, it will make no difference. For starters, no Presidential election has ever come down to one vote in any state. Secondly, they'll both do you wrong. The other candidates will be ignored, and the "best known" "third parties" are mainly filled with other politicians from the two-headed beast, anyway. There are many things which you can do something about, between now and election day, that have nothing to do with elections. Things in your own life, those of your family, those of friends, those of strangers in your community and so on. You'll find more peace and more productivity there. Best to you..

I would love to be able to vote tomorrow and get everything over with! Sick ... sick .... sick of it already.

@jaydedheart - I appreciate your opinion but I can not agree. The way I see it, that is the trouble, too many people with the attitude which you express... only concerned with "their own little world" and not willing to exert themselves in a bigger way. I will make my vote a vote against evil, and I will continue in prayer that enough other Godly people will do the same that God will once again see, and bless, this people. And, I will continue to do what I can in 'my own little world'.
Often ignorance and peace go hand in hand... ever heard the expression, 'ignorance is bliss'? I will not choose personal bliss at the cost of ignorance, of putting on blinders... that is how 9/11 happened. <3

@JstNotherDay -  I think you misunderstand. It's not "your own little world." Fact is, until recent history, people didn't know much about what was going on 1000 miles away from them, let alone 10,000 miles away. Suddenly we got this feeling that we had the power to have much of any effect on places distant to us, and gave up any power to effect what's going on right around us. Where do you stand the best, by far, chance of making impact? Where your hands can touch, your eyes can see, your voice can speak, your feet can walk. I think we have to re-realize this, and get in touch with the million issues directly around us and deal with them. Those are the ones we can truly effect. There's people and ideas in need all around us. Tell me, if you spend your time voting or helping out at an abuse shelter on election day, which will be more valuable to the world? If you spend your time voting or helping out a friend in need? If you spend your time voting or spending a day with a child that has no guidance? If you spend your time voting or helping out someone who is homeless? If you spend your time voting or rebuilding a broken lot into a beautiful community area? If you spend your time doing what ever productive works you believe in, which will be more valuable for the world? You can't tell me that your 1 vote in an election that will be decided by a gap of millions of votes is going to be anywhere near the value of any of those other acts. Now imagine if, every time you watch a debate or read an article about these two men bickering back and forth, you go out and do something for someone, how much more productive life will become, how much better you'll feel about the world. It's not being ignorant to what is, it's about doing something about it. Take care.

@jaydedheart - Exactly... it is why we must do both. We were given, and fought for the right of the general public to vote, for a reason. The higher up one is the more out of touch they are. It is up to the general public to go out and vote and at least attempt to keep our leaders grounded. If we do nothing we invite anarchy... the very thing that this country fought against from its beginning. I will not abdicate my responsibility as a privileged citizen of this privileged society.

@JstNotherDay -  We didn't fight against anarchy. We fought against monarchy. Voting only matters if voting matters. The right to vote is not a gun to your head. It is as important as anything to demonstrate what matters and what doesn't. That is the greatest message of all anyone can send.

Not sure I'm up to the debates. I'm already yelling at the TV.   All I can say is that both my great grandparents  moved to this country to enjoy freedom and not be controlled by a dictator.  My German aunt lived under one for many years and  I'm sure she took stories to her grave as to what went on.  Besides air and water FREEDOM  is the next important thing.
