(Cont.)The kind of life I dream of...

I've always dreamed of living in town in one of those apartments they once had above the shops. With one of those porches that overlook all the activity and are filled with attractive flowers. Then I could go out and walk to stores, and cafes, whenever I wanted to.  (I'd would love to be the owner and operator of the shop below as well.)

my gran owned a beauty salon on a town square... and lived in the back of it. i inherited much of the furniture that she purchased when she lived there, and i often think of what her lifestyle must have been like. i, however, need a "square of earth." ;)

hehe - sometimes I feel that also, and that is one of my dreams too. In fact, now that you've mentioned it, I realize it is what I was thinking about today... how I would like just a little house where I could have my little garden again. I often dream of how I would like to have a home on a lake too so I could start my day with a swim every morning. I spent a summer that way once. It was the best time and memory of my life. (I think I'll add the lake dream to my post now. ... or maybe save it for tomorrow.)

I love the country. A vacation house in a vacation town would be nice. Don't like the idea of town all the time though.

There is one particular community in my area that is an attempt to recreate that kind of dream.   Of course it is only an attempt because the "shop owners" are franchisees of national chains; and the homes above the shops are very expensive.   Still, you can window shop and chat with neighbors on the benches.   No porches though....

Hi Lynn, I have had the same dream, but my wife of 56 opinions hates the idea. I would love to live in a downtown apartment---for the same reasons.

@ANVRSADDAY - Hi Frank, I was sure your dream was a hut and a hammock on the beaches of Hawaii.

@quest4god@revelife - Hi Norm. That's the problem. While once I think those apartments were a matter of practicality and affordable... a means of extra income for the building owner... now they are expensive. I don't know maybe they always were. Maybe I just wax nostalgic... i.e., too bad I'm not wealthy. lol

@JstNotherDay - I like air conditioning. I don't like hammocks due to my bad back. lol

@ANVRSADDAY - Oh, I thought you liked the steady 75 degree temps. and the ocean breezes.

@JstNotherDay - I do like the ocean breezes, but it is usually very hot on Waikiki Beach in more ways than one. lol
